Not much oats here anymore for may years....Not worth the effort... No market for it unless you put wheels under it and haul it hundreds of miles somewhere and the transportation kills what's left. oats is a "windrowed crop" and not straight cut kind of crop so another operation is needed. I quit when oats went to under a dollar years ago...I believe the last oats I sold was 79 cents a bushel...... screw that...., no horses so no demand. Markets for oats sux, when you raise a 32# legal bushel product but get discounted if it isn't 38 lbs test weight.Pushing fertilizer for good yields and keeping it from lodging and destroying the test weight is also a problem. No more...


Some oats grown here and never seen it windrowed, neighbor tried being organic once and bought a windrower he may have messed with a dab but that’s it. No reason to not direct cut it.
