Ripley, Ontario Canada | I agree, especially in Canada beef processing is a oligopoly with 2 big players and in Ontario really only 1 (Cargill). Not sure how many you have in the US, but likely not many more. Until beef farmers admit that there is no free market and they are selling to a monopoly and get it regulated, things won't change.
Can you deliver actual cattle against a contract on the CME? That would be the closest thing to a free market, I don't think as a Canadian producer I can. | |
