It is my opinion, while logically many think that the phenomenom driving price is "supply and demand", the real driver is the fact of the strategic position packers have (in the cattle industry) AND the fact that this position has essentially become a monopoly.
So to understand what is going on price-wise, one has to discard basic supply and demand economic theory!
