The research on LDL is pretty eye opening. Higher numbers = live longer if a person is over 50. Take statins ten years to gain 3 days of living longer. Never mind that the people that could not tolerate the statins during the "run in" period of the trial were excluded so the side effects are way under stated and thus likely the life expectancy too. Or the issue of relative risks vs absolute risks. "Sheep to be sheared" comes to mind when it comes to the medical industry complex. John |
