Central IL
We typically put most of our gas on in the fall. Last year we were forced to do most of it in the spring and we had the debate as to put on at angle or between rows. What we ended up doing was, putting gas on our headlands with a 15" offset to the outside of the field, and angled the middle. Our thoughts were, on the headlands it would be better to split the rows to avoid burn, but angled the rest so we would not be planting down tractor and wagon tracks. We did tillage after NH3, but had a very wet spring where compaction showed up pretty bad on heavy soils. In some cases, the planter was only a day or two behind the NH3.
