I would split the field or run some test strips.

Sure would be easy to see if it really make a difference on your ground.

I use inoculant, it’s cheap and I see that it helps on my sandy fields with low CECs. I don’t have any “scientific” data but if you pull some plants with treated and untreated you can clearly see the amount of nodules is way better with the treatment side.
