The encapsulated coating has air trapped in it so yes it could float away if quick downpour rain. Best bet is to incorporate esn. Generally an in season top dress would be too late for esn. In that situation i would use treated urea, ams, or uan not esn.


One thing that scares me about top dressing Super U or urea treated with Agrotain, is what if it doesn’t rain for six weeks, like happened here in 2019. At least with ESN your urea is still there in the dirt. Could stand a chance of still being used, can’t say that if it volatizes after a couple/few weeks of missing rains.
