coast of Maine | Varieties exist that may allow you to spring plant.Some are not true garlic but you can hardly tell other than lack of storability.The further south the harder it gets to grow a stiff neck type Ive been told.Here we push them in around Nov 5.But could d it mid October,To avoid some weed pressure and issues with an open winter we lightly mulch with oat straw.Finding sets could be difficult in spring.You always want a larger clove for your set as it determines your yield,I havent taken time to look but the acre we plant should be poking up now and the roots that grow over winter amazes me.
