With water on the other end of pasture, I would think cattle may bed down some distance from bunks, and large percentage of manure will end up scattered away from bunks. Doubt going from 12 to 20 feet would gain you much. Certainly not an expert but in any larger lots I use not a high percentage next to bunks.
