We have calved on straight triticale for several years.  It is hard to say what carrying capacity is because it is so dependent on moisture and heat.  Last year we had an exceptionally cool spring and it hardly grew.  Most years it gets ahead of us and heads out.  It isn’t worth much for grazing at that point.  It has been my experience that you need to be on it before you think you should to keep ahead of it because once it starts to really take off you won’t catch up.
