With all the volatility in the markets lately just curious what the goat market is like? I’ve been wanting to get a goat herd as a way to diversify and utilize un used buildings. I’m sure like anything they’re going to have their challenges, just curious how others have gotten along. Thanks.

I run 5 goat females with 1 buck in my 30 cow herd. They eat all the rose bushes, cedar trees, and all the other junk the cows won't touch. Each mama drops me 2 babies twice a year, for a rough total of 18 goats a year (I usually lose 1 or 2). Wethers bring 150 a piece around here, and does bring 250 a piece. Majority of buyers are suburbanites who want a goat for the backyard. They don't cost me anything except time, they eat hay alongside the cows, I don't generally trim hooves, they wander around enough in my woods and over rocks it typically wears them down enough.
