Morris, IL
I’m unsure if adding sand was on purpose or more a result, like some kind of bedding. I know at one point they grew on plastic so there is parts with extensive surface and tile drainage.

Gypsum isn’t cost effective in my area last I heard have to come from Peoria or Springfield via truck which is too far for something spread by the ton not the lb. we have trouble getting water to the tile in this soil. Permeability isn’t good. There is some tile here of course never enough but it will all be subdivided or warehouses sometime soon they are marching right down the road.
