Subject: RE: vegetables recomended on a low carb diet

This might be helpful for some people. A person can eat a lot of vegetables on a low carb/ketogenic diet. Just not the starchy ones. Wife and I ate a lot of broccoli, cauliflower, salad, Brussels sprouts, green peppers, asparagus, etc. early on in our low carb diet. Improved our health and lost a lot of weight doing so.

Lately though it appears vegetables still cause my wife some problems. She just feels better the more she eliminates them from her diet. I think some people (not all) just have issues with plants or at least certain plants. Over the last 4-6 months she has just been slowly reducing the amount of vegetables we eat. I don't think I am any worse for it and she feels better so we will probably stay that way. We eat lots of meat, fish, eggs. We do eat some organ meat like liverworst and fish like sardines and salmon. But I digress.

My point is that a ketogenic diet does not have to be devoid of vegetables. A person just has to avoid the starchy vegetables to keep from spiking insulin high if a person wants to stay or get into nutritional ketosis.

Fiber is not good for some people. Your wife may be one of those people.
