Ah. - you guessed it. I do always see to it that she has the best drift and also the best fly I've tied. These were from last summer.
First - big steelhead on.
Second - very nice steelhead. First of two that day. A fantastic day!
Third - A week or so later. She was sure that she had hooked another rock, but it started to move. Went all the way across the river before she could alert me - she was like a deer in the headlights with the reel spinning like it was driven by an electric motor. Fish came up completely out of the water - and it really was one of those monsters - and turned downriver. She lost it when it was somewhere back over her left shoulder and the line sagged into the rocks - snapped the 65# gelspun backing. She's a true Skeena River steelhead fisherman now. Lost her first monster. The positive side? - I think she wants to go again this summer!
