I have gone away from desktops, and use a laptop as a desktop.  I had been using Toshiba, but the last one I bought is a HP.  I bought one with a 17" screen, so I would have a larger screen to read.  It is mostly used as a desktop. However, I can unplug it and it becomes portable very quickly, if i want to take it with me somewhere.

My brother has a smaller laptop, and then has a separate screen plugged into it.  Again, he has the larger screen to read; but he can unplug it and take the laptop along with him when he needs.  (I think he does this more than I do.)
