Little River, TX | Not trying to be smart, but there are two ends of Padre Island and both are in the USA.
The town side of South Padre Island is the town of Port Isabel. It in it's self is a nice place to visit. Then over the Causeway is the town of South Padre Island, TX.
I say this because my wife still has friends and relations living in Port Isabel.
I would just stay clear of the Mexican town, and possibly the towns right on the river.
Lots of good places to eat in both Port Isabel and South Padre Island, TX.
At Harligen's' old AF base is a neat museum. That is the base I was introduced to navigation AF Style.
My wife claims South Louisiana, as home though se attended High School in Port Isabel, just graduated from HS in LA. Her family was shrimping out of the port, and she was working at the Hairline's Hospital when we met.
