When you said you got data onto the ssd, did you clone the old drive or just copy files? Makes a huge difference.

Cloning software will set up the ssd as a system drive and put the OS on it in exactly the configuration it was in before. Version of Windows shouldn't matter. If the system was running on the old drive, it should run on the ssd if you cloned properly.

When you say you get an error code, what is it and how far into booting up do you get?
