Subject: Fell on Ice. Knee Sore. When to Go to Doc??

Northern Illinois
How long do you think it will take to determine if a sore knee is simply a sore knee or if there is damage?

Last night I fell on the ice walking out to shop. I ended up on my back with one left bent so that my left foot was under my butt. There was a little pain as I stayed down for a couple of minutes. This morning if I am walking slowly in a straight line I feel OK. If I am walking up or down steps or have a twisting motion to my walk I feel discomfort. I do not know if I just stretched things out as I am not as limber as I once was and in time everything will go back to normal or if I did some damage to the knee. If I just stretched things out how long will it take to know that is what happened vs needing to see a doctor. I am not one that goes to the doc for any little thing so I want to give my knee every chance to heal itself. On the other hand not much is going on now so if something needs taken care of I do not want this to linger into spring fieldwork.
