Eero, I once traveled through Finland during my college student days, during the Christmas Break. Seeing your picture sure did bring back memories! Wish I could have seen more of the farms, but the darn train just kept going. :-D Spent time with friends in Kuopio, and went as far north as Kejaani. From my limited viewpoint looking through the train window, most farms seemed to be south of Lahti and west to Turku. Do you farm in that area?

Oops... that should be spelled Kajaani. It's been more than 20 years...

I'll farm in Hämeenlinna, which would be kind of north side of the "grain belt" like you said about Lahti-Turku. That "grain belt" have biggest fields, less forest, etc. Also have highest land price/lease, heavy clay soils (loss of org matter) dryer early summers. I feel that I might be better to be on edge of that area.

Believe or not, we still farm here...altougth you never know how long if prices are like they are now??? As lond as we farm, come and see it again. Sure is different that Texas!!!!!!!!
