At the horsepower and RPM rating they had that engine in the 435, it was just coasting even when under full power.

Too bad they didn't keep that engine in the 1010's and 2010's. Would have been an improvement over what Deere dreamed up on their own with the sleeves welded to a deck plate.

Only Detroit I ever owned was a 6V53 in a grain truck ten wheeler. They were not known to be the best engines in the world. I think they tried to wind them too tight. The one I bought was in bad shape. BIL was a construction machinery mechanic and he overhauled it. It served us well for the 8 or 10 years after we owned it. My wife and MIL drove it quite a bit. When my MIL was learning, wife says to her "just drive it like you are mad at it". LOL. That was the truth. 5 speed with 2 speed axle and just give it hell.
