Excel copy and past problem.

If I make a spread sheet with formulas, like the addition of a column.
Then if I want to copy the old spreadsheet and create a new spreadsheet with those same formulas the information carries over, but not the formulas.
Why do I get the numbers, but the working formula of adding the column of numbers does not work on the new spreadsheet?
Excel copy and past problem.
