Those dams & reservoirs have made farming riverbottoms down this way a big gamble. When they were built their purpose was suppose to be flood control. Unfortunately the state has found they can make more money using the reservoirs for recreational purposes. Old times always claimed you could get 7 crops in 10 years out of the bottoms. Today we are lucky to get 3 in 10 :~(. Many times we have lost our bottoms to flood and bareky get a rain here. In fact, in 1988 by BIL lost his upper bottoms to drought & his lower bottoms to flood
