Subject: RE: 4oo FEET?

Somerville, Indiana
good lord man, we shoot 400 yards at beer bottles here on a quiet day.

I had a 700...best thing that ever happened was it got stolen out of a rear glass rack in my pickup and gunsmith-friend talked me into buying a Parker Hale with a Mauser action, bull barrel...complete with a trigger screw...turn in just until the pin drops then back it out 1/8 turn and loctite...Neighbor tryed that with his 700 and blew a hole in the side of his pickup bed...Not as bad as the time I blew a hole in the floor board of my truck...we were deaf and obviously dumb for a week...I considered us lucky-it missed the starter.

700 is a good rifle...millions of them to attest to that...just like everything else, some of us just like to have ONE that is a little bit special...That Parker Hale with a floating bull barrel is one nice rifle-chambered in .243, in my opinion on of the best all around calibers for my part of the world...Smith and
'Western' makes a model 29 to go right along with the Parker Hale.
