Yet another horrible limitation for QB! You can use class -- but only one type of class. Class can be year. Or it can be crop. Or it can be farm. But if you want to sort by year AND farm, or year AND crop, or by crop AND farm...you're out of luck. Your only recourse is to use an increasing complex chart of accounts. This is insane and will eventually break your system, if you are after any meaningful level of detail.

Quicken and Quickbooks are both accounting software, and that is what most farmers are looking for along with
their tax preparers.

If you want more than that, look elsewhere.  I know all about enterprising, it is not easy and very few try to accomplish it
on there own.  

You can do much of it on a pad with your pencil.  

So relax, this is not something to get worked up about.
