Subject: RE: Quicken vs Quick books

Floyd County, Iowa
With the limited info here, not sure I quite follow you.

I don't have "classes" or "fields" (or do you mean actual farm land? or a group of items in a field?).
I have accounts (numbered, with descriptions).

I have my land divided in my chart of accounts, in both expenses and incomes/sales.
For example (and ONLY an example):
6004 (sub of fertilizer expense) West 40
6014 (sub of herbicide expense) West 40
6005 (sub of fertilizer expense) Home North 80
4004 (sub of crop sales- corn, sub of crop sales) West 40

And so on. Took awhile to set up accounts separately, but was worth the time. Would probably make more sense if I posted my complete chart of accounts, but not on a public forum.

I can pull up a report that shows the amount of fertilizer, cash rent, or any other expenses, and same for income, for any land I farm. I use the Transaction Detail Report (with date ranges as needed) for most of my information reports.
Hope this is what you were asking. If not let me know and I can delete this so as not to muddy up the thread.
