Depends on what you call "basic farming accounting".

I have Quickbooks Pro, and have been using it since the mid 1990's, in a retail business where I used all modules (AR/AP/GL/ Inventory/Payroll), and in my simple grain farming operation where I only use the checkbook entries on a cash accounting basis.

I have no plans to go to a different system. It WILL take a little work to learn to use it. You won't just install it and automatically be a professional. But the reports you (can) get are top notch.
Most accountants are very familiar with QuickBooks, so I would talk to yours for advice, as he/she knows your operation.
