I know what the speedo says, but I'd bet quite a bit alot of these vehicles were not really doing anywhere near the speeds that you guys think they were.

Very few cars that you can drive off the dealers lot are capable of actually reaching 130+ mph. Drag gets to be way too much of a force to overcome. Besides, really going 130+ mph on the relatively bumpy public roads coupled with the poor suspensions in production cars would give a new meaning to "white knuckles"

125 mph in a RAV4? C'mon now...

 

This is my work car, with only a cat-back exhaust & SLP Air Lid.

It will go 142 mph, and it still has some left too. Aerodynamic, and a decent suspension from the factory. This late model technology is amazing!

The best part is that the engine was only revving about 3100 rpm. If I could get to "redline!?!?"  And I still get between 24-26 mpg.

 

My '71 Z-28 will run 108 mph, but it only does that in 1320 ft.
