Is the needle prox a one-shot, or does it have a duration? If it has some type of duration, then you probably should be using a rising edge contact rather than a normally open contact. Otherwise it will load your averaging registers too quickly.

I am just learning how to do this in the CLICK programming language, and it works pretty slick. But no guarantees that I am doing it right...
