I recall the smaller trailer plows I have seen at auctions almost all have some kind of spring loaded hitch. At least some of them would release when hitting something hard. Must have been a drag, rehooking many times per day. Still better than having broken parts.

25 or so yrs ago, I had a 2-bottom clutch lift plow for plowing garden, that hitch was worn and would release sometimes without hitting anything. I only had to plow a 20x40 garden, so it wasn't too big of a problem.
