| I am kicking around the idea of buying a semi and hopper for farm use and doing some custom hauling. Right now we have one tractor/trailer that my father owns and we manage to get by during fall/ hauling away from bins but it sure would be nice to have two rigs. We farm about 2500 ac between the two of us. I dont really want to go over the road just mainly haul within a 250 mile range if at all possible. How much does it normally cost per year between extra taxes and insurance between farm and commercial? Some guys around here haul away from our local coop to e-plants and i wouldnt mind doing that but some people you talk to say you wont make hardly anything doing that. I thought they were paying around 13-14 cents , thirty mile one way. I like driving truck just dont want to do it for free. Would look at spending around 50K for the tractor/trailer. Good/Bad idea??
