FWIW I know of situations in the 80's where Deere extended the terms on loans to an operator who showed "promise". It was in their (Deere's) best interest to keep the machine on the farm rather than repossess it. I do not know of situations where they wrote it down. You can bet that they did not go out and finance more to the same person until the original loan was paid.
