I wouldn't bury cat5 for that application. Long runs of data cable of any variety are a bad idea due to difference-of-potential issues. If lightning strikes anywhere nearby, it will probably burn up the devices on both ends of the cable. I would install a pair of Nanostations as previously recommended, or use an Ethernet over power solution. I have one of those set up in my house for a security camera and it is working well.


Thanks for your thoughts. We have had very mixed results with ethernet over power. Short runs seem to work okay. Longer runs have not been very successful for us.
