Dang, man, the thing was fired up in 1974!!! If we don't replace these older nukes as they start having troubles, we are going to be in a world of hurt.

From the EIA

"“Cooper’s capacity factor for 2007 was the highest since the station began commercial operation in 1974,” Minahan said, “100 percent.”

Capacity factor is the amount of energy that a power plant actually generates compared to its maximum rated output, expressed as a percentage."

The plant has a lifetime capacity factor of 100.2.

That's pretty good.



I'll just about bet that's in the time its been built its been rebuilt at lease twice for cracks. It was down last summer for a while.
