Mid Michigan | I would just leave the electric up. He's got a point about that old barbed wire fence. That stuff is dangerous and hideous. In another time it was fine but there are way too many people now out running around snowmobiles and atv's. We have a lot of fields around here that have steel posts sticking out of canary grass that are going to kill somebody some day. I want to cut them all off. Most are now state land that isn't used for anything. I was out doing some snowmobiling one day being a stupid 19 year old and I hit the neighbors electric fence. It broke right in half like a twig. If it hadn't I would have probably bit the big one that day. I was totally in the wrong and very sorry for it. Neighbor lady reamed me a good one and told me to fix it, which I did. Also didn't know she didn't turn it off. So I grabbed one end and stretched it over and grabbed the other end and almost fried myself! Right through my leather gloves. So I had to go over to their yard and unplug the fencer so I could fix it. They had a pack of german shepards that had chased me on the snowmobile on the road about 50 times waiting for me. Surrounded me like a pack of wolves and growled but didn't do anything. I was sure glad when that day was over and learned my lesson. Barbed wire fences are even famous for killing deer. They try to jump them doing about 20 mph and the barb sticking up guts them like a fish. I say he did you a favor taking it down and replacing it with a less dangerous fence. Good luck. | |
