About as Idiot Proof as anything out there. Put meat on in the morning and don't need to check on it till suppertime. Burns pelleted wood ,all flavors, no flareups ,even heat. Great cooker. Only pitfall is the price. However they just came out with a new model that is smaller an much more affordable model.
