West Texas

That obstructionist and destructive behavior can also be found among those who call themselves farmers. I can think of one guy in my area who fondly imagines himself to be a farmer, but he is actually quite the loose cannon. I wince every time I read the paper and find the reporter quoting this guy. It wouldn't be so bad if he kept it to the coffee shop, maybe, but he's drawn to media types like a fly to ... errr... bull byproduct. The media being the media, they *love* goofy characters, and if some goof claims to be a farmer and starts spouting off, guess who bumps the serious, *real* farmer from the 10 o'clock news? Our only hope is the reporter and/or editor has a conscience and enough brains to recognize the need for genuine information, not a sideshow.
