Yah Wheatsurfer my jaw my be a little tight when I'm called a ingrate, need to grow up, yadda, yadda, yadda, bs.

Here all EMS is fully funded by taxes. Far as schools,, they 'may' not be but on the other hand I don't have kids either.

Far as the facility it is a County run (Government run) Corrections facility.

As far as the "pay it forward" and all that.  While working in the Corrections, I was also started the first inmate work program, taking inmates out of the facility each day, giving them actual hands on learning training experience so they could get a job when they got out. I treated them exactly like "employees" (thou they were wearing jail clothing) I gave them tasks, instructions, and expected them to do the job and ask if they were confused about the directions of the task. (exactly like any supervisor would do in the "real world") 

I was also the Off. who was called for the nastiest ID jobs, (identifying,fingerprinting,etc) dead people. I was the one called in with the stomach or whatever you want to call it, when ID'ing people who blew their heads (literally) off with rifles, bloated from being submerged in water for weeks on end, etc.etc.etc.  I did it, no problem for me, (most couldn't) I was able to deal with those situations and even worse than that.

If I had any heartburn over any of it it would be the complete lack of appreciation, and simply being fired for being injured on the job because I was unable to be physically 100% after my last injury. My knee joint was torn completly apart. And despite 2 surgeries I would never be 100% physically fit again.

So as for the "more to the story" there isn't any.
