Southwest Missouri | The book about Victor Belinko, the defecting MiG 25 pilot was interesting. The Soviets sent up the MiG 25s every once in a while to try to intercept the SR 71. It was really an exercise in futility and they knew it.
The Americans did not know this. After his defection, the Americans were shocked to learn that the MiG 25 could not shoot the Blackbird down. The missiles were too slow to catch it from the rear and the electronic guidance was not good enough to hit it when fired from the front | |
