| I was told (a long, long time ago, in a place far, far away) that as is said below, speed differential is very bad. The claim was for that every 5 MPH a vehicle is moving different than the AVERAGE speed of the surrounding traffic, the risk of an accident doubles. It doesn't matter what the speed limit is, just what the average speed actually is. For example, if everyone is driving 70, and someone is driving 65 (or 75), the risk is doubled for someone to have an accident, maybe not the person driving a different speed. If driving 10 MPH different the risk is 4X, and so on.
I don't know if this is always true, but it is what I was told. | |
