| I crossed it at Vicksburg earlier in the week and there was barge traffic moving on it there. IDK what is normal though for traffic. It was 10-15' from topping the levee into LA on the opposite side of Vicksburg. It looked pretty big to me!
Crossed today north of Baton Rouge and drove over the Morganza spillway, it was about 4-5' from topping the levee there and them being forced to open it for third time in history. I didn't see any barge moving in that area but the trees are thick and stuff could've been moving. Went on up to the Old river control structure, they dump about 1/3 of the Mississippi flow into the Atchafalaya there. Thought I'd check it out, pretty neat stuff the corp does there. Pretty big water there still.
I'd think it would have to rain a bunch to affect the river level much. It sure could put a lot of acres underwater on the other side of the levees though! | |
