Subject: RE: The river, Louisiana, and basis

SE Arkansas
The Southernmost drainage into the Mississippi River is the Arkansas River. The Yazoo River in Central Mississisppi also drains into the Missississippi but is Shut Off by the Corps of Engineers at Flood Stage. This has Flooded 500,000 acres for months now in Missiissippi. Approximately 275,000 of that is Farm Land. So the only effect on the level of the River from this weather event South of Arkansas City will be the rain that falls directly into the river. If the Corp of Engineers was even worried about this, they would open the Morganza Spillway. The Bonnet Carre Spillway is open West of New Orleans. I am in Southeast Arkansas and live near the Misssissippi River. While its still above flood stage, its around 6 feet below its highest crest and is starting to fall rapidly.
