Subject: Case 1840 skidsteer

I have lost forward/reverse movement. Still have bucket hydraulics. Since the pump for the loader is on the back of the engine and the forward/reverse pump is on the front, I think the coupler between that hyd motor and the engine is gone or stripped. I have the cab forward and haven't found any broken linkages, etc. How much of a job is this to change? Can the pump be slid forward and coupler changed or does the engine need to be moved? This is an original 1840, not a C, D etc. TIA
