Subject: RE: Round baler= rpm?

Driftless SW Wisconsin
I’ve been baling dry hay around 1600 rpm, along with the necessary increase in number of wraps setting for my 569.

However baling heavy wet tall first crop hay for baleage this spring around 24 hrs after it was mowed, I found I had to run the baler at full 540 pto rpm which is around 1900 rpm on my tractor and also slow down my forward speed to avoid plugging the baler.

Overall the 569 with the widest optional pickup did a good job in very difficult conditions, once I figured baleage needs high pto speed and slow down forward speed.
