Hi Ryan,

the Salford VT system will likely be much faster than the drill but your mix contains a wide range of seed sizes and weights that will definitely not get uniformly distributed by a spinner spreader. The seeds in a diverse CC mix also segregate to some extent in a drill box but not excessively in my experience especially if you partially fill more frequently.

Everything in your mix will have no problem emerging from an inch+ so I recommend that you plant significantly deeper than 3/4" and get the seed into moisture if possible.

I crunched some #s for your mix (see attached table) and was surprised by the very low rates of some species (e.g., several species have seeding densities much less than 1 seed per square foot). You might ask your seed vender why these species are included.

PS The custom operator I know in the Macomb area with a 40' Salford VT, has an air delivery system which I think would work well but it sounds like you are thinking of someone else.
