| Used to live in a stone house with 18" thick stone walls. Interior was full 1x 6 flat with plaster and lathe. Barely enough room to snake a wire and install a shallow electric box. Only thing I ever came up with was stud inside and install new wall and insulate with fiberglass bat or spray foam which I never did. Amazing how large the house looked on the outside but how small some of the rooms were. I can say the house stayed warm well into the fall until the stone lost its heat than it got cold. In the spring it stayed cool for a while then it got hot. The house was also very quiet as our road led to a gravel pit and we never heard the trucks which started at 4 am. Buy it, enjoy the character, but don't expect it to be terribly energy efficient. | |
