Nevada, Iowa | We used to broadcast 3-4 bushel when we raised oats for grain. About the only thing that would break through was giant ragweed. Of course this was early spring seedings and we didn't have waterhemp problems back then. It seemed like we were required to use at least two bushel for setaside acres and they were often weedy before we had to start cutting. I'll be interested in hearing other responses about chemistry. I know the Hefty's have had some episodes about wheat chemistries but I just never paid much attention. You might do a youtube search and see, then label searches of products may give you some leads on what could be used with oats. I would think broadleaf issues will outweigh grass break through this time of year and a post app of 2,4-D might be a good practice as long as it doesn't interfere with harvest plans? Just rambling here .... good luck | |
