Hamilton, OH/ Browning, MO | I run 10-15 gal out the back of the planter closing wheel along with some zinc and sulfur. It's extremely simple with no extra coulters to mess with. I've had a row plug or ran out, and it's pretty eye opening how much of a difference can be seen in color and growth/ vigor. I've seen the tests about how there is no yield difference come harvest, but I can't figure out how there isn't. I've also always been told that you don't want corn to have a bad day, and the places that don't get fertilizer are undoubtedly having a "worse" day than the rest of the fertilized field. Yes it's a pain having to stop and reload, but I know it's time well spent. It has to help with our cold wet clay Ohio soils. I mean, there was a lot of replant corn and beans locally in the middle of june because of excess cool rain. Who would ever think seed would rot from saturated soil in mid June. |
