Depending how far North in Michigan you want to go, the Traverse City area has lots to offer.
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park, lots of farm stands, Torch Lake, Charlevoix with the mushroom houses, Great Wolf Lodge to stay in if you have a family with kids. Petoskey is a beautiful area as well.
