I believe it was Farmdoc webinars this spring where it was discussed that producers could sign up for SCO but the ARC/PLC ‘election’ (a two-year election for 19 and 20) would not be made at FSA until fall or even early next year, due to rules needing to be finalized and computers needing programmed.

But there was an interim deadline of July 15 this year where a producer would ‘indicate’ to their crop insurance agent (not FSA) which program they were going to choose. Not sure if the ‘indication’ is binding on the SCO election/premium or not. It was not binding on the later choice of USDA program. Kind of an arcane technical difference but I remember it from webinars this spring.

I just haven’t heard any chatter about it since then. I took SCO since it was a cheap option on catastrophic weather at the time, trying to figure out what that means now.
