I wouldn’t stress so much about the correct way to pay them.
I was told if they bid the job, get paid by the job, it can be considered custom hire. Then you send them a 1099 if they earn $600 or more.
W-2 wages aren’t a big deal either. Just withhold the proper amount and make your payroll deposits on time.
We aren’t required to provide workman’s comp here(unless your payroll exceeds x$$), but it’s a good idea to have it or at least get some insurance for them. | |
